This session will show how iDempiere can be used in real business scenarios beyond its usual role as an ERP system. We'll go through three cases: a flower business that runs entirely on iDempiere platform - managing sales, inventory, and online orders while dealing with time-sensitive logistics and the complexity of perishable, customizable products; a documentation portal built with a custom web interface for easy content editing and collaboration; and a setup where iDempiere works as a headless CMS, delivering content to websites and apps through APIs. Each example demonstrates how the system can be adapted to solve specific needs.

Alexandra will talk about global ERP trends in her presentation, as well as what customers are looking for in an ERP solution in 2025, how they think, and the criteria they use to choose software and vendors.

This session will explore the latest developments in REST and how it has evolved since the last conference. We'll highlight key improvements, showcase new features, and demonstrate how these advancements can be leveraged to create innovative micro-apps. As a real-life example, we’ll present a micro-app use case that extends beyond traditional ERP functionalities, illustrating the versatility and potential of REST in diverse applications.

The digital world has shifted and is now dominated by platforms deployed as (mobile) apps for convenience and efficiency. Most of us interact with these platforms on a daily basis, for commerce (Shopee, Lazada, Amazon, etc.), social, AI, blockchains, and banking.

iDempiere ERP is at the heart of all our organization's information, which includes Accounting, Inventory Management, Purchasing, Sales, Logistics, Production, HR, and more.
For the most part our ERP system is a transactional system: creating a sales order, creating a purchase order, performing a material receipt. Traditionally, these transactions are recorded manually by ERP users.

The introduction of iDempiere's open RESTFul API allows us to connect to and exchange information between any of these platforms and iDempiere, using a free, open-source API integration solution. Automating our ERP processes by connecting platforms reduces manual work and errors, making us more efficient and cost-effective.

In this session I will provide a live demo of integrating iDempiere with our WooCommerce e-commerce store, synchronizing iDempiere product information with WooCommerce, as well as sales orders from WooCommerce to iDempiere. I will also provide a technical walkthrough of the solution. The demo only illustrates one of the many use cases using an API platform connecting iDempiere and platforms.

Implementing iDempiere for industries like manufacturing, retail, and distribution can be complex and resource-intensive. From the initial identification of customer needs to the project's conclusion and the commencement of customer support and feature additions, the integrator's journey can be demanding and, at times, unsustainable. This session explores how iDempiere’s standard REST API can unlock new business opportunities by enabling a monetizable INAPP model—similar to in-game purchases in the gaming industry. Join me as I share my journey of applying this model in Latin America.

The success of iDempiere depends on its ability to attract and retain developers. However, challenges like onboarding complexity, outdated tooling, and documentation gaps have long impacted Developer Experience (DX). Ongoing community initiatives—such as improved documentation, automated setup, and BndTools migration—are addressing these issues.

In this session, Murilo will highlight key DX improvements, showcase current efforts, and invite discussion on further enhancements. Attendees will gain insights on how to engage with these initiatives and contribute to shaping iDempiere’s future.
